The Baltic Sea remains one of the most polluted seas in the world. Our vision is to one day be able to tell a success story about a sea that has recovered and become a model for environmental work worldwide. The road ahead is long, but together we can reverse the negative trend.
Östersjöfonden contributes by rewarding, supporting, and inspiring those who work for the good of the sea. Our award winners show that change is possible and point the way forward. Through our educational material for schools, we give the next generation knowledge about how each of us affects the Baltic Sea and how we ourselves can contribute to a healthier sea.
Since Anders Wiklöf founded Östersjöfonden 36 years ago, we have awarded more than 1.1 million euros to nearly 120 prize recipients. We have produced over 100 informational films and increased awareness of the Baltic Sea among thousands of young people in Åland, Finland, and Sweden. Together, we continue working to ensure that the future story of the Baltic Sea will be one of hope and success.
